01

Give the material a reason

Choose texture after the meaning is clear. Felt suggests absorption and quiet; folded paper suggests opening; clay suggests pressure. If any fashionable material would work, the concept is still decoration.

02

Use shallow depth first

Keep the camera close to frontal and the relief restrained so counters, stems, and terminals remain exact. Soft light should reveal the material without turning every edge into a dramatic product render.

03

Spend color on one event

A few stitches or one indentation can provide the visual action. When texture, shadow, multiple colors, and symbols all compete, remove elements until one material rule carries the meaning.
