Separate the signature from the accents
The signature is the typeface, spacing, and silhouette that must survive everywhere. Paths, points, and color are accents that may appear or disappear without destroying recognition.
Define three levels of expression
Use a plain wordmark for tiny or formal contexts, one structural accent for everyday identity, and the full letter-by-letter story for launches and social cards. Each level should clearly belong to the same name.
Test real placements early
Place the system in a 32-pixel avatar, a narrow navigation bar, a square post, and a monochrome export. A good identity rule adapts; a single composed image merely crops.
