Treat the word as one system
Before changing an individual letter, look for a shared rule. A baseline can rise like a tide, spacing can create quiet, and repeated counters can connect into one root system.
Keep spelling and reading order exact
The viewer should not need to solve a puzzle. Preserve every character, its order, and enough of its original rhythm that the word is recognized in one glance.
Let the smallest signal do the work
A blue line, one red point, or a single opening can make the visual idea intentional. Extra symbols usually weaken the connection between form and meaning.
